Athabasca University - Alberta, Canada

Athabasca University, Canada's leading online university, is dedicated to providing access and educational opportunity for all adult Canadians. Founded in 1970 by the Government of Alberta, Athabasca now serves nearly 20,000 students each year.

At-a-glance

  • 59% of Athasbasca students are between the ages of 25 and 44.
  • Open admission to residents of Canada, U.S. and Mexico for students at least 18 years old.
  • Students can enroll year-round. There are no admissions deadlines.
  • Undergraduate tuition for Alberta residents is $444 (Canadian) per 3-credit course; Canadian residents outside Alberta pay $514 (Canadian). Other students should contact the university for tuition rates.
  • Offers a wide range of certificate, undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Provides online student services, including counseling and information resources.

    Programs are accessed through a variety of Academic Centres, including:

  • School of Business, which offers a three-year, 90-credit Bachelor of Administration degree as well as the four-year, 120-credit Bachelor of Commerce degree.
  • Centre for Computing and Information Systems.
  • Centre for Nursing & Health Studies, for post-RN studies.
  • Centre for Distance Education, which offers advanced degrees and diplomas.
  • Psychology Centre, offering both three-year and four-year degrees.
