Marist College, System Analysis & Design Certificate
With this Marist program you can train for an entry-level position as Systems Analyst, one of today's fastest growing occupations. I can recommend this program I went through it. It's a good example of the undergraduate certificate programs now offered by many colleges and universities. These programs let you earn specific credentials quickly. They can often also be combined with other studies to count toward your bachelor's degree. For me, the best part of getting this certificate was being in class with the same group of students, and even some of the same teachers, through the program. We really got to know each other and help each other through some of the rougher spots! It was also especially satisfying to accomplish something totally alien to me. I started the courses with much trepidation. In fact, my first computer course was so overwhelming in the first week that I dropped it. I decided to do a little more studying on my own before attempting it again. So I never expected to enjoy programming. Well, I loved it! Another plus was that many of the instructors came from the world of business. They made it all very real, applying abstract concepts to real-world experience. And working students and teacher were better able to relate to each other. I was able to put my new skills to immediate use on my job, developing an information system, together with our resident tech person, for one of our clients. I also found that some skills, like project management, were just as applicable to my marketing job as to my systems projects. Top |
