Thunderbird
Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management, is ranked by US News & World Report as the top international business school in the U.S. Founded in 1946, Thunderbird was the first school of business to focus exclusively on international management. Today it has 1,500 students representing 80 nations. Half of these students are from outside the U.S. This regionally and AACSB-accredited graduate school is based in Arizona, and also operates in Europe and Asia. Thunderbird's landmark degree is the Master of International Management (MIM). MIM students are required to take courses in three basic areas: global business, international affairs and modern languages. It's this well-rounded immersive approach, featuring in-depth international coursework and an intensive language requirement, that distinguishes the MIM from other MBA programs. Project-driven courses are taught by a multinational faculty using a proprietary series of cases. (These cases are also available for students' personal use.) The focus is on direct, hands-on participation in current business issues, including internships. Thunderbird also offers an executive MIM program designed for busy managers. Brief residencies are required, including alternating weekends. And there are dual MBA/MIM programs that allow students to pair MBA training at 12 other participating universities with the Thunderbird MIM. In recognition of the importance of the Internet in global business, Thunderbird is integrating e-business into its curriculum for the 2000-2001 academic year. Top |
