Walden University
Distance learning programs are becoming increasingly popular, especially for working professionals seeking graduate degrees. Walden University has been providing distance education since 1970, when it was founded to provide an alternative path to a doctorate degree. It has now been regionally accredited since 1990. Walden's curriculum is focused on the needs of adult learners and specially designed for distance learning delivery. Its instructors are fully trained in online instruction. Walden provides faculty-guided programs through online, e-mail, study teams and threaded discussions. To provide face-to-face learning, some short residencies are required for Ph.D. programs, held at convenient locations around the U.S. Walden offers a bachelor's degree, a B.S. with a major in management or information science. This is a degree completion program requiring an associate's degree or a minimum of 90 quarter credits (undergraduate) for admission. But the University is best known for its graduate programs. Programs offered: Students can get started each quarter (monthly for Ph.D. programs), and financial aid is available. The University conducts traveling information sessions for interested students. Dates and cities are posted on the website. These programs are best suited for self-motivated, responsible learners. If you're interested, you can read the stories of former students in the Walden Alumni Publication, Stories of Personal Achievement. Top |
